The Kaf is the name of the huge, circular mountain range, made of emerald, which surrounds the earth. It encircles the world outside the ring of ocean. The place is inhabited by jinns. The mountain is ruled by Jān ibn Jān who was the most ancient of the jinn and from whom all jinn are descended.
